Chinese Women in Hawai`i:
A Woman of Taoist Medicine

"What is meridian? When they do surgery, they can not see the meridian. It would be equal to a live river. You don't see the river is alive by cutting the river up. It has to flow. This is the way we know it's alive, because we see a fish swimming, flower blossoming, shrimps. Same as the meridians in the body. You can not cut the body and say, 'Here, Here. Where's the meridian?'"
Trained in China since the age of 6 to be a living bridge between East and West, Master Chang is one of the few women in Hawai`i practicing Chinese medicine based on the Taoist philosophy. This exhibit introduces you to her work, beliefs, and accomplishments.
