Women and Work in Hawai`i:
Into the Marketplace
WOMEN HAVE ALWAYS WORKED.
They perform unpaid work in the home and work for wages in
the marketplace. Women work by choice and of necessity to support
themselves
and their families.
The range of women's experiences presented in this exhibit illustrate the
many forces affecting women's work lives.
This exhibit is about the women of Hawai`i, yet it reflects economic and
social changes nationwide.
