Our Process

This is what it was like to spend too much time in a basement in the springtime in the Finger Lakes area of New York State while all our friends got tans, travelled, and did amazing things. Was it worth it? Read on and see.

The class has finally come to an end. This is the second class that I have taken complete advantage of and learned an infinite amount of information that I can remember. That is an amazing thing for me to accomplish. But I owe it all to Dr. Maluso. I know that we started off on rocky terms but I think that now we have a clear understanding of where we each stand. I am the teacher and she is the student. Fun, games and understanding. That is what it is all about. I have to give her credit, Maluso, you have probably got the largest amount of patience out of anybody I know. And I know a lot of people. I have had a great time learning both about computers and women in journalism. I haven't gotten frustrated once and I have accomplished more than I thought I could. Working with the other students in my class and being able to help them without someone helping me help them is probably the greatest feeling. Thank you. Anyone who is up for having a good time while they're learning should take www.women. I highly advise you to... But then again who am I to advise anything to anyone ............ ciao...

In the class www.women, I have learned many things about computers and people. I'm sure if you asked anyone in my class who is the most computer illiterate person in the class; their answer would be me. I have learned how to scan pictures via computer, I have learned how to use the search engines to look up information on the Internet, and I have learned how to interview someone. On our field trip to Seneca Falls I learned about the First Women's Rights Convention and how women printed their newsletters. Overall this class has given me hope about college. I always thought college was a time to enjoy school and to be excited about learning, but this year I have felt that all of my learning has been boring and a forced task that I have to participate in. www.women has made learning fun. I am so excited to attend class and it amazes me how much I've learned in such a short amount of time. I have come a long way since our first class just six weeks ago.

This has been the best Term III yet. It was spent doing what I love-creating web pages, and was very relaxing and fun (no, I'mm not crazy)! I own my own business creating web sites and teaching HTML, so I am experienced and I enjoyed helping and showing others that things were not as impossible as they had first thought! I also enjoyed the field trip to beautiful Seneca Falls. My mother also enjoyed participating in the web site. She was very happy to be able to share her experiences and views on journalism. I feel that my work on this site is my very best and I look forward to sharing the site with my mother and friends and family.

This past Term III I have learned a lot about computers. I know how to build a web page, how to scan pictures onto a computer, and how to find information on the web. Most importantly I learned the importance of group work and how to handle a group project. On our trip to Boston D, Kate, Kimmie, and I discovered the significance of being on our own and getting a job done. It was so much fun, and creative, to ask random people what they thought. Some of the answers were pretty outrageous. When going to interview Barbara I thought it was really nice that we could present ourselves in an appropriate manner. The interview went very well and we were pleased. When building the web sight I got very familiar with computers. I'm no pro but at least I have my feet wet. This class has been very helpful and I am so glad I took it. thank-you miss M. for making my first Term III wonderful.

When I was registering for this class, I was doing it solely because I needed a class to get into. I did not care about women in journalism and I honestly hate computers. There was an added advantage to the fact that it began at 12:30. I have been in college now for 1 year, and this is the only class that I have enjoyed at all and better yet, I have learned from it. Even if I never build another web page in my life, I am much more familiar with computers and I can say I have had the experience of building a web page. In addition, the skills I learned while preparing too and interviewing Barbara Donlon are a valuable lesson. Those skills will come in handy at many points in my life. Throughout my year here and the professors I have encountered none of them have seemed as interested in helping me when I have had difficulties. Dr. Maluso has been ready and willing to help me, knowing how computer illiterate I am. When I am talking to other students and they inquire about who teaches this class, they all agree the professor is great.

This class was one of the more enlightening classes I ever took. WWW. Women gave me the chance to explore the history of women as well as a chance to learn how to build web sites. The contrast between the history aspect of this course and the technological side was a fun way to learn both subjects. It amazed me to learn that women went through so much to get where they are now. From that, I was able to better appreciate what Sharman Sacchetti was able to do with her life. Sharman got to where she is with nothing but hard work and determination, much like the women who first rallied in Seneca Falls for women's rights. I will never forget this class because of all the valuable information I've absorbed but also because it was one the most fun classes I've ever been a part of.

WWW.women is a class that should not have been taken lightly. Going into this class I had no idea what third term was all about, I had just heard a few rumors about how third term was a complete blow-off. That, however is not the case at all. This class was a lot of fun and a lot of hard work. From going to Boston, being in class with my friends, and learning things about using a computer, I feel this class was a great experience. The fact that I got to use computers and make a web page practically by myself, with help of course, makes me feel as though I have actually accomplished something. I love that I can go back anytime in the future and look back at the web sites that were made by my friends and I. Before taking this class I had known a little about computers. Pretty much I knew how to write papers, and sign on the internet. Now I can admit and be proud to say that I can make web pages, use disks more easily, scan pictures, and be more comfortable interviewing people. This class also taught me a lot about how to condense my words into what is actually needed. This past year has had its ups and downs. There have been many classes that I wish I had done better in, taken instead of others or not taken at all. The one thing about this class is that I will never regret taking this class and I would definitely recommend this class to any student next year.

Well, it's finally over and I never threw the computer once although I threatened it many times. Of everything I learned in this class the most important would be patience. If you try to rush it only makes things worse. I swear these computers have a mind of their own. The term "user friendly" obviously doesn't apply to the Mac's here in the lab. In the end I survived without any permanent damage and even learned little bit. All in all WWW. Women was a good class with a bunch of great people.

This course required a lot of time and work, but it was so much fun that it didn't matter. In the beginning, I only took this class to fulfill a requirement, but the more I learned about it, the more excited I became. Then, on the first day of class I learned that the focus would be women in journalism. I was ecstatic. I am double majoring in Elementary Education and English Literature. I really learned a lot about making web pages and women in journalism as well. I got to meet a lot of people through this class as well. I got to know classmates that I worked with; I met a journalist; and I got to work with a really exciting teacher. I feel that this class is definitely worthwhile, and I would recommend it to everyone.

Well, I have to say this has been the quickest six weeks of my life. Term III is over and I have to say I will miss this windowless basement. I sit here in front of a Macintosh waiting for brilliant $50 words to poor out my mouth, but they will not come. So I will be simple. "www.women" has taught me more than any of the classes I have attended in my two years at Elmira College. Much Thanx to Dr. Maluso for teaching us step by stepÉyou could not have made it any easier. Through this class, I have had the great pleasure of meeting Sharman Sacchetti. Our interview was outstanding and lots of fun. I enjoyed working with Colleen, Marissa, and Mike. We worked hard on our personal, topic and interview pages. I knew we could do it! Well as for my final thoughtsÉHave fun cruising our pages!

In my opinion, the course www.women is creative, fun, and rewarding. I know that I would not have had the chance to make a web page, if I had not taken this course. In my personal opinion, this course was a great experience. Not only did I become more acquainted with certain programs on the computer, but I was also able to interview a woman journalist, and explore my creative side. I feel that every student should be offered such a class, and should also take a class like this because in one way or another it will be rewarding to them. Not only can a student learn a great deal of information from this class, but they will have fun doing it also.

After taking WWW.Women, I feel that I have a deeper understanding for building web pages and using the World Wide Web. This class taught me Internet and interviewing skills that will be useful in the years to come. Before taking this class, I really did not know much about the Women in Journalism. One of our projects was to interview a women journalist and build a web page on her. This was interesting to me to find out how she got to where she is today. The most exciting project we worked on during the term was building our own homepages. I scanned in pictures, wrote text, and found interesting graphics to make my homepage fun to look at. I really enjoyed taking this class and I feel that I can actually say that I really learned a lot of valuable information that will be useful in the future.
