This Project was created by a Women's Studies class at Elmira College during April and May, 1997. We call this time in the spring Term III. One of the distinctions of Elmira College's Term III courses is that they provide unusual educational opportunities that tend to encourage innovation both in approaches to teaching and in subject matter. This class was conducted in the workshop style and involved four three-hour meetings per week. We mostly met in a computer lab but we also spent time on field trips and conducting interviews and gathering background materials. The unique characteristics of Term III made this intensive style of work possible.
