Baseball
I began playing baseball when I was 10 years old. My dad had gotten me into the sport because as he says "I was two weeks away from being called up to play for the New York Yankees, then I got called into the Service". He eneded up driving me away from the sport however. I loved playing but he was very critical of my performances and tried to make me the best baseball player ever, even better than he was. Eventually I couldn't take it anymore and I needed to get away from baseball, even though at the time I was good. I was the pitcher and played outfield, once i got kicked out of a game for trying to throw a curve ball, they were illegal in the U15 league. I picked up baseball again when I came to Elmira College. Term 3 they have intermural softball and it is very competitive. I missed playing baseball all through high school and at times I wish I would have kept playing because I enjoy it so much. After playing softball on campus, I played last summer with my dad and his work buddies. We played at a brand new park with turf on sunday mornings. Our team made it to the championship but lost in extra innings, 8-7. This year I ended up playing on two different teams for intermurals and while neither of my teams made the playoffs it was still a great year for myself.
