Bowling
I began bowling my senior year of high school. I had always wanted to try out for the bowling team before then but never thought I was good enough, but my Senior year I just gave it a shot. My mom told me that if I made the bowling team she would buy me my own bowling ball to practice with instead of using an old ally ball That gave me an extra incentive to make the team, knowing i could have my own bowling ball. I went to tryouts and ended up making the team as one of the reserves. That year our team was pretty solid, so i figured it would be hard for me to make the starting five spots but at least I was on the team. Two weeks into the year one of our bowlers on the starting five broke his wrist snowboarding. That was my time to shine, I was then placed into the starting five and ended up bowling in every match for the rest of the year. I was not the best bowler on the team by any means but I was an important piece in being ranked number 1 in class "C" high school boys bowling. We made it to sectionals which places the top 10 teams from each class in a big tournament, winner takes all. We ended up comming in third place by only 27 pins to second and 87 to first place.

I joined the bowling club at Elmira college and got to go bowling on a less serious form but with competive bowlers. Next year I am taking over the President of the Bowling Club and hope to make it a recognized club on campus. My campus is fixing up its four bowling lanes this summer which will be a great thing to have on campus again. I am very excited about that to be finally happening and getting it re-opned again. I still have a lot to learn about bowling, for starters I only use two fingers when I bowl. I leave my thumb out because I never learned how to throw a hook with my thumb in the ball. It is something that I am working on trying to be able to do but for now two fingers works for me.
