Mrs. Wood went on to discuss some mixed feelings about her current job. Although the pay is adequate the benefits are her primary incentive. Cynthia readily stated that given a choice, she would not work at all due to the recent birth of her now 14 month old son. The decision to accept this job was a hard one to make as she knew she would be missing out on quality time, growth and development of her son. Additionally, the job also limits time to socialize with friends.
Cynthia enjoys not having to sit in an office for eight hours, though she admits that her bus routes occasionally become monotonous. Every now and then, she'll "spice things up" by signing up for different events, such as; Weddings, Trolleys, and (her personal favorite) the Lady's Professional Golfing Association (LPGA). However, if family life permitted, she would volunteer to drive a TransAmerica run, due to her love for traveling. Overall, she finds her job rather enjoyable. When asked to give advice to any youth aspiring to pursue a career in any blue collar profession, especially one involving mass transportation, she responded;
"It's very difficult to... maintain... be professional as in drinking (dealing with job stress) and all that other stuff. It plays a lot in because if you have a record, more or less, getting your C.D.O. license for a professional plays a big part on it. And there's a lot of kids that don't realize that if you have a D.W.I. on your record, they're not going to let you drive professionally, you know?"
And without a doubt, the wisdom in her final statement can be applied to everyone.
