FOUNDATIONS FOR THE FUTURE
Working-class women in Hawai`i continue to carry a great burden
as they combine family responsibilities and paid wage labor. Some issues,
like childcare and low wages, recur for each generation to tackle anew.
Others are resolved and replaced by new challenges, like single-parenthood.
Women in Hawai`i continue to meet the challenges of work and family with
strength and resourcefulness.
