Outings
Part of taking this web designing class included taking class outings to enjoy the outdoors. Otherwise, I think the majority of us would have been upset sitting in the basement of our college library in a Mac lab for 3 hours during prime outdoor time.
Our first outing was at the Tanglewood Nature Center where as a class we participated in geocaching. Geocaching is where you or a group of people take a GPS and go in search of “treasure” that has been placed in a specific location by another individual for you to find. The person who has hidden the “treasure” has given coordinates to its location and clues about how to find it. People who go in search of it are to use the information to search for the “treasure” and if found they are not to take anything from it unless you replace it with another item. I’m sure those are the basics to geochaching and that's what we did. My group however got lost in the woods and was unsuccessful in finding anything but we were able to play with the center's iguana, Iggy.
Our second outing we went to Watkins Glen State Park where we walked around the gorge. It was a hot day and there were a lot of stairs but being next to cool running water and shaded areas made it worth the trip. It was also beautiful and enjoyable to walk around.
I also enjoy partaking in outings with friends to stay active and have fun. Earlier this year, with two of my good friends, we went ice-skating for my first time. They related it to rollerblading and I was able to catch on quickly but not without holding onto the side for the majority of the time.
