Me, A History

Currently 19 years old, I was born on November 21, 1986. This means that I was always home from school on my birthday because it's so close to Thanksgiving. I have one older sister, Sam, who's only eleven months and two weeks older than me, making us what many call Irish twins. I was born one town over from where I live now in St. Anthony's Hospital, in Warwick NY. I later volunteered there for two years in 10th and 11th grade trying to get community service hours so I could be inducted into the National Honor society of my high school.

My parents are Robert and Carol McMahon, who met each other when they worked together at the Immigration office in New York City. They married and had my sister a few years later, at which point my mom quit her job so that she could raise both me and my sister. She started working again a few years ago at the Family Empowerment Council in Middletown NY. My father retired from Immigration and stared his own small cleaning business. Sam and I should have been in the same grade because we were born in the same school year but my parents held me back so that we wouldn't have to go through all our classes at the same time. That made us both the oldest in our class. Also the tallest in class, both me and my sister shot up in the high department way before the rest of our class. I went to Greenwood Lake Elementary School and Middle School, but because Greenwood Lake is such a tiny little town, we had to go to another town's high school. I went to George F. Baker High School (better known as Tuxedo HS). I graduated for Tuxedo High School in 2005, 16th in my class of 93 students.

I am now a student at Elmira College enrolled in the Speech and Language Disabilities major expected to finish my undergraduate studies by 2009. As a speech major, I'm hoping to one day be a Speech Therapist, but I'm going to have to complete my masters degree and be certified by the American Speech and Hearing Association before I will be able to practice.
