My name is Mary Ann,
and I am in my junior year at Elmira College.
I am majoring in Human Services, with a specialization in Early Childhood
Services, and Criminal Justice. After Elmira, I plan to attend graduate
school for my Masters in Social Work and eventually to obtain my Doctorate
in Clinical Child Psychology.
I grew up in Owego, New York. My mother owns her own photography studio
there, Cherished Memories, and her own gift shop in Owego and in Ithaca,
called The Goat Boy. My father works for British American Enterprise
in the area of web design. I have three sisters -- Kristin, 33, who
is a food chemist in Chicago; Stephanie, 18, who will be a freshman
at SUNY Potsdam next year with a major in Music Education; and Kathryn,
11, who keeps herself busy with cheerleading, school plays, band, and
shoe shopping. My family has always been very important to me.
Since coming away to school, my friends have become my family away from
home.
I've been blessed with a group of supportive people who have been there
through the good times and the bad, and who will always carry a very
special place in my heart.
Whatever our futures bring, I know that miles are meaningless when
it comes to friendship.
It is what lies in the heart that matters most. These people will
always be close to my heart.
This class has been
particularly meaningful to me. There is no doubt that we have struggled
at times with learning
the new skill of building websites, but the experiences I've had
during the past six weeks have been well worth the challenge.
I enjoyed researching the topic of unequal representation in the
athletic Halls of Fame both here in the United States and on the
international level, as well as the time my group spent delving
into the life of Deb Bettencourt, General Manager of the
Rhode Island Women's Baseball League. I also enjoyed bowling, go-karting,
and hiking for my participation in recreational activities!
I hope you enjoy my website!
