I have played sports all my life and been very good at them. Without sports I think I would have spent more time on the streets then I should had. Without sports I wouldn’t have even cared about school or about trying to better myself in school. When you grow up in poor place where money is the most important thing, you find yourself trying anyway possible to make money at a very young age. Sports kept my head above water and kept me in school. My favorite sport would be a tie between football and basketball. I have had a lot of opportunities to play and I thank God he has bestowed me with the talent that I have. Sports have run in my family forever. I currently have two family member that play professional sports and are very athletic people.
I have been in the gym many times and heard this conversation, “What you want do today?” “I don’t know maybe arms and we can try to do legs tomorrow?” “Yea let’s not do all of arms but try to work in some abs to.” “I don’t feel like doing abs though... let’s just goes play basketball instead and lift tomorrow.” There are so many things wrong going on there. Let me explain, how many times do you get in your car and start to drive not knowing where you want to go or how much gas you have? Never, that would be dumb. Well why would you go into a weight room or a gym and not know where you want to start or what you wanting to get done? It is very important to understand what your goals are and the training you need to reach them. Without you ever knowing the steps to reach your goal you will never gain the goals you need in the time you want. With basketball players weights should be not an option, but more mandatory. Basketball has evolved to a more athletic, contact, and physical sport. You have to prepare your body for that. And goal setting is an excellent way to of doing this.
“I've always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come. I don't do things half-heartedly. Because I know if I do, then I can expect half-hearted results.” -Michael Jordan
