Cly on Performance Art

Performance art resists organized mainstream thought which may be viewed as a reflection of the artist herself. Cly's art is a process, not a product. Her performances are action oriented, relying on body language and entails personal beliefs. Cly's materials present the atmosphere for her performances. For example, the mother tree and nest reflect the environment of procreation in the birthing ritual.

According to Cly, there is a difference between art and performance art. Art is the reflection of visual intentions by the artist. Performance art is a personal interaction between art and the individual who created it. Cly also believes that symbolism is highly important in the performance.

Her space consists of movement oriented choreographed boundaries. The space redefines the action and focuses on the symbolism of the performance. Cly is an admirer of Laurie Anderson's performance art. Cly feels that society is image-blind, therefore she applauds Laurie Anderson 's work. Ms. Anderson creates outrageous images grasping the audience's attention. Cly herself, has become an individual who has dazzled audiences with her performance art.
