RIP Sports Illustrated for Women
In 1999 the publishers
of Sports Illustrated and Sports Illustrated for Kids thought
that it was time for women and womens sports to have their
own magazine. The issues included topics specifally for women. Not only was a woman on every cover, by it also incorporated
articles that included advice from real athletes
like Lindsay Davenport's favorite sunscreen for hair or
even Michelle Kwan's preferences on power snacks. SI for
Women also had classic sports news, access, and authority
as the classic Sports Illustrated. "SI For Women is all about
information active women
can use."
Unfortunately in 2002 the magazine came to a close. Even with loyal subscribers, the new magazine could not hold up in the trying times.
