To Those I Hold Dear
"I do not wish to treat friendships daintily, but with the roughest courage. When they are real, they are not glass threads or frost-work, but the solidest thing we know."
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Throughout my lifetime, I have had a bundle of friends, some who remain nesting comfortably in my life while others pass through, simply touring the chapters of life. With my experience with friends, I have learnt through good and bad events that friends are like a box of crayons. So many colors unique yet beautiful in it’s on way and to together these crayons (friends) create an array of beautiful and vibrant pictures. Sad to say, some crayons will eventually break into two halves while you are in the mist of creating a masterpiece. Do we continue to use these crayons, or do we simply discard them despite of how much you may think you need this one crayon to complete a vibrant and gorgeous masterpiece.
I must say, I do appreciate all of my friends, both those whom have made a comfy nest in my life and those that toke flight. From my experience with friends, I have learnt so many life lessons; the do’s and what not to do’s, in terms of decision making. The one concept about friends that I love and that I have been taught time and time again is the idea that one has the absolute power to choose one’s friends. Hence, because life blessed me with such a capability, my friends, each individual embody who I am as an individual and also append a hint of blush towards my personality. Throughout my life, I always chose friends that were easy to work with. Yes, I know it seems as though I am presenting my way of choosing friends as shopping for clothes. However, I do view the hold idea of choosing friends like that. You see, my friends are all kind people, not afraid to speak their minds but, also open to new ideas or opinions. My friends are constantly making my laugh, or when I am down, I can always and I do mean always depend on them to brighten my mood. After all, “That’s what friends are for.”
To all of my friends, especially to my “posse” throughout my high school career and my college career, both groups that still remain nested within my life, I want to THANK YOU, something I think that I have never done before, for simply being a good pal. I love you guys and I will always. I would also like to thank my boyfriend and also my best friend, Ryan Gottlieb for becoming my other half, I Love yoou. To my mother, Paulette Elaine Poitier-Newton, my sister Alexandria C. Newton and my brother Clyde A. Newton, you guys have definitely proven yourself to be the “ultimate friends” in my life, a group of friends that I am confident to proclaim, will never leave my nest.
Unlike my family webpage, I am not going to discuss my friends in depth due to the fact that there are so many of them and to list and mention some will serve no justice to those not listed. Thus I chose to dedicate this page to my many friends via miraculous poem written by that I wrote from the heart.

There is that Friendship
There is that friendship
that is so much a part of you, that you feel alone just thinking about the thought of her not being there.
There is that friendship
that has so much that it is based on that nothing could ever dissolve or even threaten it.
There is that friend
with whom you share so much history that one fight or misunderstanding rolls off nearly instantaneously,
because one issue is so insignificant, and could never come close to shattering the bond.
There is that friendship
that cannot always be explained, but only understood and cherished by the two people that share it.
There is that friend
that mean so much to you, that you honestly believe you would stop studying for a final exam, break a date with your crush of five years, or risk being grounded just so you could be there to lend a shoulder to cry on, offer a hug, or spend three hours just sitting with her if that would make it at all better.
There is that friendship
that has lasted through ten years of your life, and is still growing.
There is that friend
who you can talk to about something that happened when you were eight years old, and she can relive that moment so vividly along with you..
There is that friend
that knows you as well as you know yourself, and finds it special that you know her just as well.
There is that friend
who can make you smile through your tears, or cry out of happiness.
There is that friend
who is always there for you, and just realizing that she would be there is more than enough to make it better.
There is that friend
who cares about clearing away your tears no less if you are crying over absolutely nothing or over something she may have done to hurt you.
I have one friend like that, and it is that friend that will always occupy a precious part of my heart.

To My Dearest Friends
I never understood how you could be so much a part of me. You are the beautiful colored birds in my life that rest so peacefully in my nest, I can imagine the thought of you leaving my nest to find another home.

Words of wisdom
Women will change the nature of power, rather than power changing the nature of women.
A woman is like a teabag. You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water.
I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is; I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat.
