Sports
"the price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand."-Vince Lombardi
Sports have become much more than a game to me, it is more like a way of life. They have been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember. Since I was a little girl, I have been interested and active in a variety of sports but have come to love and appreciate the game of basketball.
From a young age I particularly took an interest in the game of basketball because my dad played it and I wanted to be like him. I began playing basketball at the age of 7, in an all boys league with my brother and have been fortunate to continuing playing the game i love at the colliegiate level.
My greatest accomplishment as an athlete has been winning a state championship in basketball my senior year in high school. It was so awesome to become the first girls team at my highschool to win a state championship in basketball. The feeling was unbelievable and made me realize that hard work does pay off. All of the practices and days in the gym ppaid off that day. It was such an amazing feeling and a day and an even better way to finsh my high school career.
I not only played basketball but also played soccer and softball. I have just recently taken an interest in golf because my dad and my brother are very interested in the sport.
ECWB: Elmira College Women's Basketball, my second family. Since I was a freshman I have met girls from the team who have become some of my best friends. We spend a great deal of time together from the beginning of the season in October to the end of the season in March. We share the good times with one another and help one another through the tough times. We have such a close bond with one another and create the best memories on our long road trips. Our team is very humorous and make the best out of every situation. These girls are just one more reason why I love the game of basketball.
Sports have made me who I am today and have taught me so many things about life. They have taught me to have a strong work ethic and determination, good sportsmanship, how to work together as a team and how to get along with others. The lessons I have learned as an athlete have not only helped me on the court or the field but have carried over into my everyday interactions with others.
