***Both of these items on either side of the “vs” represent the same exercise. Therefore, why is there a need for difference? Why should female equipment have to be different materials, sizes, or colors?***

Conclusions...

After participating in our field study it is apparent that the world of sports is portrayed differently between male and female. This is shown just by looking at the actual equipment. Color difference is the strongest trait that discriminates females in a sport society. It is almost as if females are supposed to be feminine and dainty while being actively involved in sports, and this is portrayed by color usage of women’s equipment. It is apparent that most sporting stores sell women's equipment in soft colors such as, pink, neon green, purple etc. Color differences are shown in everything from lacrosse sticks, golf balls, softball mitts, shoes, even clothing.
Material also changes between male and female equipment. Women’s weights are mostly represented from 1lb to 10lbs and they have an extra rubber coating on them. These rubber coatings are colored in the fluorescent colors named above.
Sizes and shapes also differ between female and male equipment. For example, a female lacrosse compared to a male’s has a smaller head on it and less netting. These differences also play a role in the changing of the actual game.
The overall question is why should there be such a necessity in making equipment prettier for female athletes. There is only one game and the athlete is usually focused on the exercise they are competing in, and with this is mind all equipment should look the same no matter what gender.
