Back Ground

Allen Engineering is a business founded by Jody M. Allen. Jody started her business in December 1993 in a spare bedroom in her home in Painted Post, New York. Allen had attended Corning Community College for engineering and then finished her studies at Virginia Tech, where she earned her bachelor's degree in civil engineering. After working awhile for other people, Allen decided to get her engineering license which allowed her to start her own business in New York State. Allen started her own business in order to stay home with her children. She likes being able to form her own schelule and be flexible with her children's lives.

In the past five years, Jody Allen's business has grown to be very successful. When it was started in 1993, Allen Engineering was just Jody working in a spare bedroom, using the family phone line for the business. The only piece of technology she owned was a fax machine. Five years later, she now has her own office in her home, four part time employees, a separate business line and thousands of dollars worth of computer equipment. Just this January, Jody purchased a $10,000 CAD software system.

Allen Engineering is involved in many different projects dealing with both civil and environmental engineering. Its mission is to provide clients with innovative, high-quality engineering services at a cost-effective price. Allen Engineering has a wealth of experience with DOT-funded and private sector projects. Their use of state-of-the-art technology enables them to handle a broad range of large and small-scaled designs. At Allen Engineering, they combine a broad base of experience in civil and environmental engineering with a strong focus on effective project managemant.  Allen Engineering is registered with the New York State Department of Economic Development and Transportation, is a certified WBE/DBE firm and is affiliated with the National Society of Professional Engineers and the New York State Consulting Engineers Council.
