ROJECTS

An Allen Engineering Employee hard at work on a new project!

Jody Allen and other engineers at Allen Engineering have been involved in numerous ground-breaking projects in many areas of New York State which have helped to improve environmental and structural conditions. Although many of Allen Engineering's projects have focused on the Southern Tier of New York, she has also created and assisted in projects in many other areas throughout the state. Jody Allen designs such things as subdivisions, housing projects, septic systems, and parking lots for malls. One of her biggest and her favorite project was a dam she built in Tioga, NY which is located in Cayuga County. This project was very challenging for her and it was a way for Jody Allen to do something good for the environment. This project restored a natural habitat for the wetland animals of the area and if the dam had not been designed, many of the animals would have been pushed out of their natural environment.

Jody Allen takes on approximately 10-15 projects a week ranging from septic system projects which usually only take a week or two, all the way to a project she designed in Hammondsport, NY which has been going on for a year and a half now and will continue at least through this summer. She personally handles big projects and delegates authority when it comes to the smaller projects the business takes on. She enjoys all of her projects and for the most part, her clients are great to work for. Allen Engineering tries not to take on more projects than they can handle so the engineers there can produce their best work on each project they are involved with.

With all of these projects going on at once and with several meetings and presentations to attend, time management is vital in order for Jody Allen to be successful. "I don't know how I do it, I just do it!" This is Jody Allen's explanation as to how she manages her time. She believes that her ability to manage her time has a lot to do with her being organized and her ability to prioritize her work. Post-it notes are another way Jody can remind herself of any impending projects that need attention. She also compares her time management with doing homework, something that almost everyone can relate to. Time management is very important, and without it, Allen Engineering could not be as successful as it has been and will be.
