ODY LLEN

Jody Allen is a licensed professional civil engineer in New York State who started her own business called Allen Engineering five years ago in Painted Post, New York. This location was chosen as the site for her business because both she and her husband grew up in this area and they really wanted to raise their children there. Owning her own business also allows her to spend more time with her children.

Jody decided on engineering as a profession in high school. She thought that she really wanted to be a nurse, but the first time she saw a C-section, she passed out. So, she went to her guidance counselor who advised her, because of her great math scores, to go into engineering. At the time, Jody was not really sure what engineering was, so she shadowed an engineer and decided that this profession was her future. Because her shadowing experience was so valuable, Jody has become a Career Development worker and allows other students to shadow her.

The "A" on the Allen Engineering Brochure represents her name as well as a recognition of her business. Allen Engineering's brochure also advertises a "new concept". To Jody Allen, this means more personal attention. She does not take on more projects than she feels she can handle so that she can efficiently serve every one of her clients. She also tries to keep her clients' costs down. She still makes her money, but not by taking advantage of her clients.
