As a child it didn’t seem as though my life would involve hockey. Well, at least not organized hockey. When I was growing up I don’t believe that there was a year when there wasn’t an ice rink built in my back yard. All of my winters consisted of shinny in my back yard with the local neighborhood boys. It wasn’t until I turned 11 years that I joined minor hockey, and began a journey that I never thought was possible.

When I turned 14 I made the U18 Newfoundland and Labrador women’s team and played for them in the Atlantic Challenge Cup for the following 4 years (2000, 2001, 2002 & 2003). In my final year I was the captain of my provincial team, which was one of my proudest moments as a hockey player. In 2003 I played in the Canada Winter Games for Newfoundland and to this day it is still one of my best memories.

But hockey hasn’t just given me great memories and proud moments. When I was 15 years old My family and I decided that I should take not only hockey but my education to the next level. We decided on a private school located in Oakville, Ontario called Appleby College School (AC).

I graduated from AC in 2005 as an Ontario Scholar (+80%), a co-captain of the varsity soccer team and the asst. captain of the Hockey team. In my final year at AC I also received the honor of colors for hockey, which is the same as team MVP and team leader award.

After graduating from AC I decided that I wanted to continue playing hockey in a challenging environment. Therefore I enrolled in Elmira College where I am set to graduate in 2009. Being a Soaring Eagle means being apart of tradition; one that I am proud to be apart of and proud to start new traditions.
