Ice Hockey

Ice Hockey is my life. I have been playing since I was 5 years old. I actually started as a Roller Hockey player. One day I was at the ice rink watching my sister figure skate, and I had went to my dad and told him that I wanted to skate. He went to the skate desk and got me a pair of hockey skates and helped me put them on and tie them. I stepped out onto the ice and I felt like I was in heaven. The ice was where I belonged, skating was so easy for me, I was burning by people including my sister. My first time on the ice and I wanted to play ice hockey. My dad talked to some people and signed me up for a beginner league. My sister figure skating coach's dad gave me some equipment to wear because I didn't have any, let alone to afford any. The shoulder pads that he gave me that where about 3 times my size, I still where today which are now to small, but I refuse to get a new pair. So this beginner league started and the coach was like she can't be in this she needs to play for a team, so I got moved to a team. I went through the struggles of playing hockey with the guys and being the only girl. I had to earn my teammates respect, along with the coach and parents even the other team. I played boys hockey for 9 years, and it finally came to the point where if I played id be murdered by a guy on the other team for being better then them so I played for a girls team in Anaheim. I traveled 2 hours, 3-5 days a week to play hockey. The next two years I played for a team in Huntington Beach which was 2 hours away and played 3-5 days a week. So with 9 years or boys hockey under my belt and another 3 years with the girl, I was able to be scouted by college coachs and get where I am today playing Varsity College Hockey for the Elmira College Soaring Eagels. It was my dream to play college hockey and I am living it.
