Roller Hockey was what I had started at as a goalie when I was 5 years old. eventually switched over to Ice Hockey but I still played when I could. In high school my sophmore year, I got together with my old coach and friend to start a team for my high school. We were able to get enough interest and permission from the principle of our high school to start a club team. I was the only girl on the team and was the top scorer and play maker for my team, and the top female scorer in the league. My Junior year my coach and I were able to get the principle to sign us as a Varsity Team. This was awesome, to play Roller Hockey and get a Varsity Letter. Junior year our team made it to the playoffs but lost in the quarter finals, we had a pretty strong team for a first year team playing Varsity. I was the assistant captain of the team and I loved it, becasue my teammates respected me and looked up to me as a person. I was the second in scoring for my team and second overall in points. I was again the top female scorer in the league. My Senior year I was named captain of my team and was proud of it. For my last year with them, and having started the team with my coach Joe Noris I helped lead my team into the playoffs. At the beginning of the season I had a major neck injury preventing me from playing the first few games that occured in my Ice Hockey tournament. But I came back and I helped lead my team into the playoffs. We were cut short once again in the Quarter Finals, but we had fun and loved playing. I was in the top three for my team in scoreing and points, and I was second in the league for female scoring. Playing Roller Hockey with the boys was a huge task, because Roller Hockey you won't get anywhere in life with it like you could in Ice Hockey, so if I beat a guy, or scored on them, pulled a great move, these guys would go head hunting for me. They would go out of their way to try to hurt me, and the harsh words and harrasment that they put towards me, I just kept playing the game I loved. I knew a lot of the guys I had played against, and all though they were on the other team, they had my back if one of their teammates would go after me. My Junior year the Union Tribune which was the San Diego main News Paper did a page long article on me in the sports section. Roller Hockey gave me the hands that I have for Ice Hockey now, and the quickness I have too. Roller Hockey was a good start for me because I have many of my skills for Ice Hockey from Roller Hockey. My Senior year I was also names to the All-Star team, and I was the only girl on the team. I knew a few of the guys who also made the team, but it took a good period for them to finally pass me the puck and believe that I could play with them.
