the beginning
Kay Yow has been active in the world of women's basketball for nearly 37 years. Even though Kay was very instrumental in starting the women's basketball program at North Carolina State, she has just recently became known to not just basketball fans around the country. Kay was one of three children; she had two sisters, both who were also very active in basketball as well as their sister. Deborah Yow is the athletic Director at University of Maryland at College Park and her other sister, Susan Yow has coached at a variety of schools while also coaching at the professional level. Kay Yow graduated high school from Gibsonville H. S. where she played basketball. After high school, Kay continued her education at East Carolina where she majored in English. After college her coaching career took off when she landed her first coaching job at Allen Jay High School.
