A Term III Trip to the Gorge
Hiking the Ithaca Gorge Trail in Ithaca brought back memories of the extrordinary hikes we took while visiting Egypt and Greece. The Gorge, being 2.5 miles one way, provided an huge challenge, considering it was mostly an uphill hike. Fortunately, the weather was cool enough to ensure we were not sweating to death. My favorite part of the trail was a beautiful, cascading waterfall that we stumbled upon.
The way the water flowed over the rocks was very picturesque. The amount of green was astounding to see, considering that a few weeks ago when I was in Maine, the leaves were not out on the trees and everything was brown. Everything on the trail felt so alive and vital!
One thing I was not a fan of was the massive amounts of stairs that we had to climb, Going up the stairs was rough, but coming down was slow going because I felt like I was going to fall down the mountain!
This small waterfall was gorgeous to capture on film. I couldn't believe how hard it was to hear over the sounds of the water crashing against the rocks.
