A Glimpse into the life of Sarah Burr
A Bit About My Life
"Your life is your alone. Rise up and live it." ~ Terry Goodkind
I, Sarah Burr, am determined to have a memorable life. Some of the things I’ve already experienced will be with me forever, but I’m just getting started! Between traveling from beautiful ocean to ocean, completing my own novel, and performing, I’ve found so many avenues that my life could take that it’s hard to decide what I want to pursue.
I’ve lived most of my life in a small, rural village in Maine. It’s not the center of activity, meaning my family did a lot of traveling so I could see the bigger picture of life. Our favorite haunt is Bermuda, with its pink sandy beaches, English traditions, and beautiful weather. I’ve also been to almost all the continental states at some point in my life, even if I was too young to remember it. One thing traveling has taught me is that there is so much more to life than what is immediately around you. My goal for the past thirteen years has been to get out of Maine and make a difference in the world. As a Political Science major, I can always pursue this goal in the political arena, but who knows how successful that can ever be?
About two years ago, during my freshmen year, I had an idea that changed my life forever. I started writing a story. I woke up, having this strange idea in my head and I went to my computer to see if it took me anywhere. A year and 103,000 words later, I put the final touches on a story about discovering who you truly are and fighting for right to live your life as you see fit. A common theme, yes, but sadly the current world today does not seem to value such a statement. People are fighting in the name of others; no one ever seems to live life for themselves. We only have one lifetime; why live it as the slaves of others beliefs and opinions? In his book Faith of the Fallen, Terry Goodkind sums it up best, “Your life is yours alone. Rise up and live it.” One of my goals is to show people the power they have in themselves to make a positive impact in the world. This web page showcases some of the incredible oceans I’ve seen in my travels, my love of performing, and a sneak peak at my writing. Enjoy!
