The Wonderous World of Writing
I first thought about pursuing a career in writing during the summer before my eighth grade year, when I attended the University of Maine’s Young Authors Writing Camp. Yes, I was one of those kids. While my friends went of to adventure camp, I went to writing camp. It was a week long intensive writing course, and unfortunately for me, I had a crazy kook for an instructor. His weird sci-fi antics really squashed my love of mystery and romance writing, and for the next few years, I did not pick up a pen to write creatively.
Upon starting my first Term III at Elmira College, I decided to two creative writing classes: one in fiction and the other non-fiction. It was during these classes that I rediscovered my love of writing, whether about my own, crazy life experiences or completely made up things. These two classes rekindled a hobby I had long ago abandoned and gave me the inspiration I needed to produce my own idea for a novel.
The link below is the first chapter of my first manuscript Battleground Eden: Anointed. It is a fantasy-themed novel about an eighteen-year-old girl who stumbles into Eden from a portal in the woods in the backyard of her family’s new home, discovering that she is the only one who has the power and will to stop an evil force that is threatening the lives of both worlds. Enjoy!
