In Boys Scouts, I learned to leave no trace, to respect and enjoy nature. It looks like there has been a lot of enjoying of nature on he planet, but not much of respecting. It is really sad to see that we are destroying our beautiful planet and not protecting it. Respecting nature is easy and all you need to do is to put a little effort in here or there. Anyone can do it, it just takes effort.
I absolutely love nature and the outdoors. A few years ago my dad purchased a cabin up in the Adirondacks. It is right on the river and there are very few houses in the area. I have made countless trips up there and have had a blast each time. I usually just go up for hunting season, but sometimes during the summer my dad and I go up for some hiking, canoeing or fishing. Over the past couple years, friends and I have blazed new trails, fixed old ones, and found new places to enjoy in the surrounding area.
For one of the class trips we took this term, we went Geocaching at Tanglewood Nature Center in Elmira, New York. This was not the first time I went Geocaching, but it has been years. I sum up Geocaching as a hike with prizes at the end. I had the priveledge of leading some classmates that never had Geocached before. After a few hours of hiking in circles we managed to find all 3 caches that we looked for. (The other group got lost and didn't find any.) Overall, it was a really great experience even though the trails were ridiculously muddy and due to error judgement, by none other than myself, we walked one of the hardest paths in the nature center. I got to know a little more about my classmates and I hope they learned a few things about me. If you ever want an adventure I thoroughly suggest you go Geocaching. Also, if you are in Elmira, I suggest you go check out the Tanglewood Nature Center. It is really beautiful and really fun.
