Cammi Granato
Female Forward

Birthdate: March 25, 1971
Position: Forward

Cammi has been playing hockey since she could walk.  She played for the Downers Grove Huskies from first grade until her junior year in high school.  The Huskies were a boy’s travel team.

In 1989 she received a scholarship to play for Providence College.  It was the first time she would be playing on a women’s team.  She was a three time ECAC Women’s Hockey Player of the Year.  At Providence College she still holds the record for most goals and points over a College career.

She was invited to the New York Islanders training camp, but turned it down.

After Providence College she played for Concordia University in Montreal.

She has been a member of the U.S. Women’s National team since it started and is its leading scorer.  In 1996 she was name USA Women’s Player of the Year and team captain.  In 1997 she was the International Ice Hockey Federation All-Tournament player in the women’s world championship.

She won a gold medal that the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, Japan.  She won a silver medal in 2002 in Salt Lake, United States.

She became a radio commentator and is the only woman broadcaster in the NHL.  In 1999 she established Cammi Granato’s Golden Dreams for Children.
