Carrie Ogawa-Wong
Female Martial Artist

Year Inducted: 2005
Position: Karate & Chinese Martial Arts

As a young girl, Carrie was extremely interested in the fields of ballet, modern dance, and tap dancing. She explored all three of these arenas for a number of years until turning to Karate, where she quickly earned her brown belt and transitioned into her passionate endeavours with Chinese Martial Arts.

In 1980, Carrie began to compete nationally. She was automatically ranked #2 female competitor in hand and weapon martial arts. She soon retired in 1984, still listed as part of the top ten nationally, to begin a family.

Carrie returned to the sport and the way of life in 1991, which is when she made her most significant contributions to the field:

Carrie now teaches body movement classes at California State University, Northridge campus. She starred in the film Cyborg 7: Glass Shadow and has published several books on body toning and women's exercise.
