Gail's achievements as a swimmer seem endless. She has touched this sport in a way that many other athletes have been unable to do.

Gail's accomplishments in the field of swimming include:
1948 Winning the Eastern Interscholastic Championship
1948-1951 New Jersey State Champion
1952 U.S. National Champion in 100 yard and 200 yard breaststroke
1953 National champion in 100 yard, 250 yard breaststroke and 300 yard medley
1953 National champion in 110 yard, 220 yard breastroke, 330 yard individual medley, 330 yard medley relay, and 880 yard free relay

Gail retired at the age of 26 to marry and begin a family. She is now a mother of seven, as well as a grandmother.

Gail came back to become an active participant of the Masters program, andin her returning year of 1970 madenational records in the breaststroke and individual medley, which served as no surprise to those who were aware of her prior career.

She has set forty-two world records and has earned 27 gold medals in her Masters World Cup competitions. She now holds 130 United States Masters National Champsionships and 53 world records.

Gail was diagnosed in 1986 with spinal stenosis. She retired again in 1990 at the request of her doctor and her family and coached from1991 to 1994 at the University of San Francisco for their Masters team. Gail returned to the swimming pool in 1994, where she set national and world records for the 65-69 age group.
