Sara DeCosta
Female Goalie

Birthdate: May 13, 1977
Position: Goalie

Sara played for the Toll Gate High School boy's team. She was the MVP in1995 and 96. In 1996 she became the first girl to play in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Championship Division. She made All-Tournament, City, and State teams.

In 1996 she enrolled in Providence College. Her freshmen year she earned the ECAC Honorable Mention Award.

In 1996 she also made her first apperance as part of the U.S. National team in the IIHF Pacific Women's Hockey Championship.

In 1997 she did not play for Providence because she was touring around the country with the National team. Also that year she won the Three Nations Cup against Canada.

In 1998 she won the Gold medal in the Olympics in Nagano, Japan. She also won the Silver in Salt Lake in 2002.

In 2000 and 2001 she was named the USA Hockey Women's Player of the Year. Also those two years she won a silver medal for the World Championship.

In 2002 she was an assisant coach for Providence College.

In 2003 she won the Gold at Four Nations Cup. Later that year she retired from the National team.
