Sherri Pickard
Slow Pitch Softball Player

Birthday: June 20, 1955
Hometown: Raleigh, North Carolina
Year Inducted: 1994
Position: Second Base

In 1980, Sherri Pickard led the Rubi-Otts of Graham, NC to the ASA National Slow Pitch Championship. Her evident talent became noticeable in this tournament as she batted .680 and was named the tournament MVP. Though she considers this championship the highlight of her softball career, her excellence only continued in the game.

That same year, Pickard was named the ASA Female Slow Pitch Player of the Year after hitting .484 with 82 rbis and 16 home runs. 1981 showed Pickard's home run hitting capabilities when she won the ASA Natural Light National Home Run Hitting Contest, hitting 17 out of 55 swings. Besides being a home run champion, Pickard was named an All-American five different times.

Though her career was cut short in 1987 because of a shoulder injury, Pickard's involvement in sports continued as she coached basketball at New York University, and served as the assistant basketball coach for Duke and Furman University until 1997.

Pickard received her bachelor's in math from North Carolina State University and a masters in business administration from New York University. In 1997, she took her place in the private business world where she currently works as a realtor in North Carolina and is one of the top sales agents at her firm.
