Martial Arts Hall of Fame
Eligibility Requirements & Nomination Process

Induction into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame -- which is the only hall of fame specifically for the martial arts that is recognized by the Martial Arts History Museum -- is a bicameral process.

The first phase, the nomination phase, is meant to weed out those individuals who meet the qualifications as they are set forth by the Martial Arts History Museum. These characteristics include the individual's participation in martial arts for at least twenty-five years; the individual making a significant contribution to the history of martial arts (such as introducing one form of it or another to a portion of the worldnot previously exposed to it); and each individual must be nominated by a current member of the Martial Arts Hall of Fame, which is the sole venue through which nominations are accepted.

During the second phase, the induction phase, the current members of the Martial Arts Hall of Fame receive a list of nominees, with an attachment containing brief biographies of those individuals. Voting occurs, and the ten individuals who receive the most votes areinducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame that year.
